Working with a client’s garden that has an existing landscape presents a unique challenge, particularly when deciding what plants to incorporate and which to remove.  Assessing the condition and ornamental value of the plants and how they fit into the client’s overall aesthetic and envisioned design is a high priority.   In the Olthoff/VanHouten Garden, mature trees and some interesting ornamental woody plants, as well as the client’s own perennial garden, were incorporated into the new design.  Hardscaping was retro-fitted into the landscape with some pathways, both gravel and stone, a patio, and a natural looking pond. These elements help unify the garden.   As hands-on gardeners, these clients utilized the services of Fine Garden Creations to help create a design that provided a foundation for creating their own unique space once the hardscaping was incorporated.
